Logical Framework Matrix. Objectives & Activities

These are the key pieces of the project matrix, regarding objectives and activities:

WIDER OBJECTIVE: 

  • Build the research capacity of Philippine law schools.
  • Bring Philippine and EU law schools closer as a way of sharing the EU values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights enshrined in article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union.

SPECIFIC PROJECT OBJETIVE/S:

  • To enhance the curricular offerings of the Partner Country HEIs through creating new subjects in the Juris Doctor/Bachelor of Laws and Master’s programs that have research components that are consistent with the Bologna process.
  • To enhance the curricular offerings of the Partner Country HEIs by updating subjects in human rights and the rule of law, comparative law, and/or regional integration in their Juris Doctor/Bachelor of Laws programs and/ Master’s programs in a manner consistent with the Bologna process.
  • To build the multilingual research capacity of the Partner Country HEIs through interest in and facility with Spanish.
  • Activity 1.1. Preliminary sesión to prepare the Kick-off meeting
  • Activity 1.2: Organization of CALESA.  Online Kick-off meeting divided in two parts (management and academic issues)
  • Activity 1.3: Context studies. Five (5) studies prepared by the Partner Country HEIs on the state of: (a) the Philippine legal education system, (b) Philippine multilingualism, (c) the modernization of the Philippine civil, criminal and commercial codes, (d) the Philippine human rights situation, and (d) ASEAN communitarization. 
  • Activity 1.4 Stay in Brussels of a member of UMA and a member of UP in order to attend a course on the CBHE Projects

    • Activity 2.32. Beginning of the teaching of the following subjects to be taught in the Juris Doctor Program of the School of Law of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) of 6 subjects, 18 Units.
    • Activity 2.33 Conference on “Common Law as a model for the Philippines” to take place in Dublin at the University College of Dublin on July 2023. This Activity corresponds with Activity 4.6.
    • Activity 2.34. Final meeting/course/conference at the University of Málaga. The Project will end with a final meeting at the University of Malaga to coincide with an International Conference on the Modernisation of law in the Philippines. These events will be celebrated on January 2024. This final act of the Project is transversal and coincides with the programmed activities such as 4.7 and 5.17
    • Activity 2.35. Research in Criminal and Civil Law to be published in the Philippines.

  • Activity 3.3: Training of the leaders of the iQCC by Toqi, the external control institution of the University of Oviedo and by Microsoft Education Center September 2020

  • Activity 3.8: Coordination meeting with all the working groups to explain and disseminate the procedure for implementing the Quality Plan and its tools throughout the project.

  • Activity 3.11. Quality Control and Risk Analysis Committe meeting to take place in the University Nova de Lisboa, June 2022. This activity is in paralell to the Steering Committee meeting. The University of Málaga will be represented by the two leaders of the Committee.
  • Activity 3.12: Training of the leaders of the IQCC on indicators by NOVA November 2020
  • Activity 3.13: Audit of the Project’s performance, following the guidelines of the applicable UNE-EN ISO 9001: 2015 regulations. Each 12 months
  • Activity 3.14:  Accountability and assessment of compliance with the Project’s objectives / indicators: work / activity packs. Each 4 months
  • Activity 3.15: Verification of the Final Economic Report January 2024
  • 3.16 Accountability and assesment of compliance with the economic planification and Budget (each 6 months).
  • Activity 4.1:  Constitution of the Dissemination and Explotation Committe September 2020
  • Activity 4.2:  Regular Online Dissemination and Explotation Committe meetings to take place on  November 2020, February 2021, June 2021. November 2021, March 2022, June 2022, November 2022, March 2023, June 2023 and November 2023
  • Activity 4.3: Continouos dissemination and explotation of the Project throughout its duration. This dissemination and explotation will be made throught different tools, being the most important the webpage. The person in charge of the Dissemination and Explotation team is Andrés Bautista Hernáez.
  • Activity 4.4. National Conference in Manila.
  • Activity 4.5 Meeting of the Dissemination committee leader with the responsables of the institutions participating in the Project Calesa to evaluate strategies to promote and ensure the dissemination of the Project. This activity will take place in July 2023 in Dublin, in parallel to activities 5.4,5.7 and 5.16
  • Activity 4.6. Conference on “Common Law as a model for the Philippines” to take place in Dublin at the University College of Dublin on July 2023.(4 days). This activity corresponds with Activity 2.33
  • Activity 4.7. Final meeting/course/Malaga Conference.  at the University of Málaga. The Project will end with a final meeting at the University of Malaga to coincide with an International Conference on the Modernisation of law in the Philippines. These events will be celebrated on January 2024. This final act of the Project is transversal and coincides with the programmed activities such as 2.34 and 5.17. This is a conference in Malaga among the Partner Institutions to present the final CALESA reports. The milestones/measurable indicators are the submission, review, finalization, reproduction and distribution of the final reports.

  • Activity 5.7: Gender equality committee meeting at the University College Dublin (UCD), in July 2023, this meeting will be held in parallel to the Steering meeting.
  • Activity 5.8. Visit of the Coordinator of the Project to the Universities: Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) and the  University of the Philippines (UP) to monitor and evaluate the progress of Project implementation. This activity will take place in May 2022. 
  • Activity 5.9. Visit of the Coordinator of the Project to the University of San Agustin (USA, Iloilo), to monitor and evaluate the progress of Project implementation. This activity will take place in May 2022.
  • Activity 5.10. Visit of the Coordinator of the Project to the Universities: Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), the University of the Philippines (UP) and the Philippine Judicial Academy (Supreme Court, PhilJA), to monitor and evaluate the progress of Project implementation. This activity will take place in January 2023.

  • Activity 5.15. Visit of the Coordinator of the Project to the University Central College (UCD) to meet the members of the corresponding universities involved in the Project, to analyze the implementation of the Project, especially with the participants in the steering committee, control quality and risks committee, dissemination committe and equality gender commettee. Meeting with the Faculty members of the activities of WP2 to evaluate the implementation of the seminaries. This activity will take place in September 2022.(3 days).

  • Activity 5.19: UCD: Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion office organizes events for International Women’s Day. March 2021.
  • Activity 5.20: AdMU: Celebration of the Women’s Month (+ International Women’s Day by the Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC) Urduja Women’s desk and the students of Gender and the Law. The celebration generally consists of 1.) Forum on a specific issue involving women and gender; Exhibit on a theme adopted by the class for the Women’s month – stays for one week in the building for the public to see and a solidarity night – celebrating women’s month. March 2021.
  • Activity 5.21: UMA: Presentation of the Report financed by the Human Rights Office: The human rights of temporary migrant women in Andalusia. Presentation by Carolina Jiménez Sánchez open to the entire Faculty. May 2021
  • Activity 5.22: AdMU: Webinar on Intersectionality of Discrimination (Women, reace and class) sponsored by the Anti-Discrimination class and also another webinar on Sexual Harassment, Safe Spaces and Code of Decorum of the University as one of the programs of the AHRC Urduja Women’s desk in commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. June 2021.
  • Activity 5.23: USA: Seminar / Webinar / Conference / “Inclusivity Through Gender Neutral Writing and Lecturing for Legal and Academic Fields”. vocacy of a cause or study, whether in law or academia, is primarily a field of persuasion of its audience. The use of inflammatory, degrading, and sexist language would distract from the message we wish to share. Further, ever growing in our modern global society is the use of gender neutral language as a form inclusivity and a vehicle to connect to wide array of audiences whose gender identity, sexuality, and sex may differ. Mindfulness, conscientiousness, and sensitivity of these differences would create an inclusive society and its corresponding laws. Thus, a gender neutral language in writings and lectures would encapsulate these ideals. June 2021.
  • 5.24: U.DEUSTO: Seminar/ Webinar of the project “Inclusion of the gender perspective in teaching”. Research on gender in the field of teaching has shown that gender bias is present in the classroom. For example, male and female students do not participate equally in the classroom, teachers may have gender biases when grading students, some teachers and students still use sexist language, etc. This activity aims to offer teachers tools to promote equality in the classroom (e.g. inclusive language, female references, blind evaluations, etc). University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain Implementation: Participants: two experts on gender perspective in teaching coming from the University of Deusto Audience: Lectures of the University of Deusto. September 2021.
  • 5.25: AdZU: Activity “The women, the law and the society”. Activity with students within the framework of the elective subject entitled “Social Legislation and Agrarian Reform”.. This activity shall be attended by all the law students and faculty of ADZU College of Law, women coming from the different barangays of Zamboanga City, representatives of the City Government of Zamboanga (the City Mayor is also a woman), representatives from the Philippine National Police Region IX – Zamboanga City and it shall also be open to public. December 2021
  • 5.26: UMA: Within the framework of the subject “Women and the penal system” (Criminology degree) coordinated by the assistant professor Fátima Cisneros Avila. Seminar on the operation of courts for violence against women. Invited lecturer: Flor de Torres Porras. Delegate Prosecutor for Violence against Women of the Superior Prosecutor’s Office of Andalusia. Approximate date of celebration: January 2022
